The Sil Hexpeak F6e Winter Shelter SJ corresponds our F6a tent - optimized for winter usage with a tent stove.
It is equipped with a stove jack and will be delivered as single shelter in green or desert colour.
The stove jack opening can be closed either with the delivered nylon fabric patch, or with the silicon stove jack. The included stove jack is suitable for temperatures up to 200°C. So depending on the kind of stove you use, further insulation might be required.
We recommend to combine this winter tent with one of our ultralight titanium W.STOVEs. Regarding the total weight this combination (1-person winter tent + ultralight stove) is unbeatable from our point of view.
There is no inner tent supplied, but the seperately available Inner Tent V4 (for one person, fits the maximal until body height of ~180 cm), Inner Tent F6e (also for one person, suitable for slightly bigger persons, winter version with little mesh) or the Bathtub Floor F6, fit the Sil Hexpeak F6e SJ.
The further winter configuration consists of snowflaps, to create a tight fit to the ground and disable wind and snow from penetrating the inner. The zipper is realized as a J-end, and the top vent is equipped with a flap that can be operated from inside the tent. That can reduce airflow and snow (that might be blown up the vent) will be withhold. Besides the entrance a tube vent is integrated. It is doubled with mesh, and can be easily operated from inside the tent.
A reliable air intake is very important while winter camping, because oxygen concentration and CO2 in the air can easily reach harmful levels in a tight and maybe snow covered shelter.
To keep the very high wind stability and maintain the room under heavy snow loads, the guy points have been redoubled. Connections between inner and fly are all highly adjustable to react to different ground conditions, allow variations of pitching heights and make the locating of good pegging points easier.
A hook takes the tension from the two-way zipper at the entrance, and a top loop enables the tent to hang from trees, branches or whatever will fit.
All Sil Hexpeak F6 tents are made out of siliconized ripstop nylon. The seams are underlayed with a robust webbing that obtains a very high stability to the whole tent.
For high winds and snow we recommend the Guyline Set (glowing in the dark and with sliders to knot into the provided slopes), additional 190 mm Y-Pegs Aluminium or our more sturdy steel Tent Nails.
